WELCOME
At the heart of our work is a simple, powerful mission:
to inspire a community that coexists with wildlife.

·The Kawartha Wildlife Foundation (KWF) is the reimagined educational arm of the Kawartha Wildlife Centre (KWC), a registered charity dedicated to supporting positive wildlife coexistence. KWF supports KWC’s mission through hands-on, community-based programs that connect people—young and old—with the wild world around them.

Through engaging initiatives like Wildlife Wednesdays, Junior Animal Biologist, and Bird Friendly Peterborough and Kawartha Lakes, we help foster curiosity, compassion, and conservation right here in our region. From libraries to classrooms to city streets, our programs empower people to make everyday choices that support wildlife and healthy ecosystems.

Together, we’re building a future where wildlife and people can thrive—side by side.
We respectfully acknowledge that Peterborough is located on the Treaty 20 Michi Saagiig territory and in the traditional territory of the Michi Saagiig and Chippewa Nations, collectively known as the Williams Treaties First Nations, which include: Curve Lake, Hiawatha, Alderville, Scugog Island, Rama, Beausoleil, and Georgina Island First Nations.
Bird Friendly Peterborough respectfully acknowledges that the Williams Treaties First Nations are the stewards and caretakers of these lands and waters in perpetuity, and that they continue to maintain this responsibility to ensure their health and integrity for generations to come.
